Parks and Tracks

There are many nearby parks with children’s playgrounds, toilets, barbecue facilities, off leash dog parks and basketball courts.  Here are a few local favourites:

Wishart Parkrun is a free, fun and friendly weekly 5km community event.  Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.  It is on every Saturday at 7am starting at Wishart Community Park, Greenwood Street at Wishart.  https://www.parkrun.com.au/wishart/Mansfield Bushcare Group meets at Banika Street (Cnr Kenora Street) on the third Saturday of each month from 8am to 10am.  Help maintain their site with local residents – weeding, watering, planting the site close to Bulimba Creek.  https://bulimbacreek.org.au/about/member-groups/mansfield-bushcare-group/

The Bulimba Creek Bikeway stretches 23km from Eight Mile Plains to Murrarie and is a great walk or ride for people of all ages and abilities.  There are many access points, mostly at the parks dotted along the way.

The Veloway One (V1) bikeway begins at the Gateway Motorway Off Ramp at Eight Mile Plains, running alongside the Pacific Motorway, connecting to Lower River Terrace at South Brisbane. There are access points off Klump Road (before entering Griffith University) and at Birdwood Road, Holland Park. The Council is developing plans to improve bike connections between Wishart and the V1.
