Rubbish and Recycling

Household Waste

Your kitchen scraps can be dropped down to the compost bins in the community garden in the easement at the south-western end of the complex.  A collection bin is also available in the easement where residents may drop eligible empty bottles and cans for recycling.  All monies earned will be used to offset the costs of running the community garden.

Council waste collection for Erindale Townhouse Complex occurs on Friday mornings.  There is a standard bin (red lid) collection every week, and an alternative collection every fortnight for recycle bins (yellow lid).  Normal bin collections run on public holidays.

Ensure your bins are placed neatly on the footpath by 8:30pm on Thursday nights, and removed from the footpath at your earliest opportunity following rubbish collection.  Council may investigate bins continually left on the footpath and issue fines to offenders.

Please be mindful of noise levels as you move your bins to minimise disturbance to neighbouring units.

Brisbane City Council requests the following:

  • place the bin on the footpath as close to the kerb as possible, with the handle towards the houses;
  • bins should be placed at least 30cm apart so they are not damaged when lifted;
  • ensure waste and recycling waste are not cross-contaminated;
  • close the bin lid;
  • bag all loose rubbish going into your general waste bin, but do not bag recycling waste;
  • keep any garden pruning small; and
  • do not overload the bin (maximum weight is 70kg).

If your bin is damaged then leave it at the Erindale Close entry and email the Body Corporate Committee so that they can arrange a replacement.

E-Waste, batteries, electronic items, and hazardous waste should be taken to one of Brisbane’s resource recovery centres.  These are located at:

Willawong Resources Recovery Centre

360 Sherbrooke Road, Willawong

Chandler Waste Transfer Station

728 Tilley Road, Chandler

All residents should have access to Brisbane City Council Date Coupons for general waste.

Charitable donations may be taken to Lifeline or Vinnies at locations in Mt Gravatt.
